Owner Manny Perales expects a full reopening within the next few weeks, pending final safety inspections on the kitchen's new hood exhaust system.

Yosemite Falls Cafe Near Reopening After Fire; Lounge Open Now with Limited Menu

After a 10-month hiatus caused by a kitchen fryer fire, Fresno’s Yosemite Falls Cafe (Blackstone and Shaw) is on the verge of a full comeback. While owner Manny Perales awaits final inspections on a newly upgraded kitchen hood exhaust system, the restaurant’s lounge and bar are already open for business.

To generate some income during the final stretch, the lounge is serving a limited menu (including wings, nachos, and Sunday menudo) prepared at their Clovis location. Because the kitchen and dishwashers are still offline, food is served on disposable tableware.

The Backstory & Upgrades:

  • The Incident: On August 29, a pilot light mishap sparked a fire. While the initial blaze was minor, smoke in the ducts of the 50-year-old building forced firefighters to tear into the walls. Subsequent unresolved water runoff left the kitchen flooded under a foot of water.
  • The Overhaul: The extensive restoration includes a fully rebuilt roof, ceiling, walls, and 32 feet of new ductwork. The dining room boasts fresh paint, new carpet, and new tables.
  • The Kitchen Perk: A massive upgrade to the kitchen’s cooling system—quadrupling the fan count from one to four—promises a much more comfortable environment for the returning staff, most of whom stuck with the business throughout the closure.

Lounge Hours: Thursday–Saturday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., featuring live music or DJs.
